What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Supervisor position at UNLV Health?
To provide operational support to the Clinic Manager, Director/Administrator and Providers. Provide operational and functional support for the front desk, inclusive of but not limited to, patient check-in processes, authorizations and referral specialists. Manage schedules for staff, volunteers and students. In addition to the front office, the Clinic Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient functions of the back office and medical records to ensure smooth patient flow. Functions as a liaison between the front office and back office, monitoring and implementing processes for best practices. Instructs staff and promotes an excellent customer service atmosphere for patients. This is a working supervisor position, requiring the knowledge and applicability of the work duties. This position is responsible for the supervision of personnel as well as interviewing and selection of staff, corrective action and performance management of staff. This position is responsible to coach, mentor, train and monitor staff to ensure accurate and complete information is gathered from patients and physicians and processed to enable billing functions to be accurate.

- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in health related field preferred
- 2-3 years supervisory experience in medical office
- 2-3 years customer service experience
- MA or LPN not required but a plus
- Demonstrated ability to use electronic medical record system. Experience with EPIC is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English. Bilingual Spanish a plus
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer with Word and Excel software ability
- Valid and current driver’s license
- Flexibility with work assignments and hours
- Knowledge of customer service concepts
- Knowledge of business methods including productivity, workload analysis, and scheduling
- Knowledge of cash management principles and procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records and consent laws
- Knowledge of insurance industry and billing practices
- Math skills to manage cash, change, checks and credit card transactions
- Skills for management of personnel resources – coaching and directing people as they work
- Skills for using the computer and software: Word, Excel and Outlook
- Skills to promote teamwork and excellent customer service practices
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to deal with others in a professional manner
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
- Ability to effectively supervise and train staff, including prioritizing, organizing and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and thorough knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures
- Ability to understand residency requirements and effects on scheduling
- Ability to travel to various locations
- May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
