Job Summary

Performs leak investigations, turn on and off meter, carbon monoxide testing, responds to emergencies-after hours call out, assist in leak survey by responding to "no-access" calls, monitors odorant concentration levels, installs gas meters, assists C&M crews when necessary, perform all job functions to standard distribution service policies. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

* Turn gas service on and off

* Build meter loops

* Conduct general maintenance and repairs. Install, remove and adjust gas meters and regulators.

* Inspect odorant pump stations for proper operation and level of odorant

* Perform high bill investigations

* Check for and repair gas leaks

* Size meters and regulators according to customer appliance demands

* Locate gas services and mains

* Complete necessary paperwork such as service orders, leak survey orders, damage reports, etc. electronically via laptop computer and wireless connection.

* Operate and maintain company vehicle, complete related reports

* Conduct abnormal pressure investigations

* Conduct system surveillance

* Perform building inspections

* Read and record dial reading on gas meters

* Maintain friendly and tactful customer relations

* Respond to leak survey orders

* Perform leak tests on customer piping

* Light and adjust pilots on customer appliances

* Calibration of various equipment

* Responds to reports of damaged facilitates

* Inspect master meters, farm taps, double cut sets, and multi-meters on pounds

* Stake new meter locations

* Conduct carbon monoxide tests

* Take pipe-to-soil readings

* This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

* 2 year(s) natural gas experience preferred

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers/contractors and internal employees.

* Ability to lift over 70 pounds

* Must be able to perform strenuous work in cramped and unusual positions. This position requires standing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching and fine motor skills.

* Valid Arizona Driver's license

* Good written communication skills with legible hand writing

* Must be able to perform after hours and weekend call out duties when required.

* Basic computer skills and functional capability in Microsoft Excel, Explorer, and Outlook.

* Basic math skills required

* The incumbent may be required to perform an operational, maintenance and/or emergency function. Such function may be in a safety sensitive role during the course of the calendar year and might include receiving and acting upon product release calls.

* All applicants will be given a test prior to the interview. Employees must score a 75% or better to pass the test and to continue in the selection process. The test will consist of knowledge of the gas industry, service related work/terminology and math skills as related to a Service Technician position.

* The successful candidate will be required to be trained in the use and operation of, fitted for and deemed physically acceptable to don an approved Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) under certain conditions as required by OSHA, CFR 29 Respiratory Protection 1910.134 and other applicable state and federal regulations. The physical requirement includes successful completion of both the initial and periodic follow-up Pulmonary Function testing as required by law which must be maintained

Salary Zone: FB $31.74
