UPMC Children's Hospital is hiring a full-time Lead Pediatric Sonographer to join their ultrasound department! This position will consist of primarily weekday day shifts with occasional support if necessary on off-shifts or weekends. Call would be voluntary. There will be occasional coverage at our satellite locations if needed.

Purpose:
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all ultrasonic diagnostic examinations and job duties in accordance with Level IV Pediatric Lead Sonographer job responsibilities including advanced imaging.
- Leads orientation and training for new hires, students, and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame.
- Responsible for offering remediation with technologists, where necessary.
- Assists with telemedicine training as needed. Assists with quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols alongside of or in place of advanced technologists and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
- Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the ultrasound department and acts as a clinical leader by assisting supervisor/manager in maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
- Oversees and approves monthly work schedules. Assists with quality assurance projects with other supervisors in the ultrasound department as well as the medical director and assists in the development of exam protocols.
- Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of technologist candidates.
- Participates in supervisor call pool for off shift coverage including holidays. Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor/manager.
- May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment.
