What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Finance-Service Lines (Hybrid Remote) position at UPMC?
Purpose:
Further develop and enhance the enterprise-wide financial framework in support of UPMC's service line initiatives. Work in conjunction with other members of the Health Services Division to refine service line process/structure within UPMC. Coordinate financial reporting and analysis amongst the Health Services Division to meet the expectations and timelines of UPMC Finance and Operational Leadership. Plan, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate the annual budgets and other financial planning initiatives. Continue career development within Finance by being placed in roles of significance to further develop areas of need within UPMC, with the goal of becoming a Senior Financial or Operational Leader. This position also offers a hybrid remote work schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a dedicated Service Line finance team; collaborate with and facilitate linkage of finance and key internal leaders to successfully achieve goals and objectives. Maintain a work environment which attracts, retains and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people.
- Promote coordinated Service Line initiatives - link/coordinate/prioritize separate business unit initiatives to meet the overall Service Line, HSD, and IDFS objectives. Improve financial reporting and presentation so that accurate and timely information is available to appropriate levels of management.
- Work closely with technical teams to deliver solutions that support the implementation of Service Line and payer-provider initiatives.
- Support the Chief Financial Officer of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside and other UPMC leaders in various initiatives as assigned, and in evaluating the performance and effectiveness of the finance functions in the business unit.
- Design and implement processes and structure that enables effective service line management. Extract and analyze data from various operating systems as needed to evaluate opportunities for improving bottom line profitability. Provide technical assistance to senior management and clinical business units in preparing annual budgets.
- Coordinate the implementation of financial models for aligning incentives in support of Service Line and payer-provider initiatives.
- Support the Finance Service Line Program to: Develop an enterprise-wide financial view of new care models, including the measurement and assessment of revenue, cost and financial risk. Design and implement standards to evaluate, structure, measure and assess progress of existing integrated initiatives as well as design a process for evaluating new initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends (best practice) and maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends. Provide financial input toward development and/or assessment of Service Line and IDFS strategy, including goals and objectives, reimbursement/incentive mechanisms, contracting strategies/coordination, market segment considerations.
