UPMC Family Hospice is hiring a Spiritual Counselor for Blair County and the surrounding area.
The hospice spiritual counselor provides counseling, guidance, and emotional support to patients, families and caregivers as an integral part of the healing team. Spiritual counselors support active and bereaved hospice patients/families, and caregivers without involving a particular creed, liturgy, or atheism. Acts as a liaison between the community clergy and hospice program.
Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, no on-call or weekends

Responsibilities:
- Focuses on customer service and continually strives to perform the duties of the job in a manner that will result in optimal patient satisfaction.Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy in order support the spiritual care needs of patients, families and caregivers.Works with staff, clergy and community groups to enhance their understanding of the spiritual issues of patients, families and caregivers experiencing terminal illness and loss.Provides direction and oversight for the bereavement program as applicable.
- Attend compliance training and adhere to the organization standards of conduct, policies and procedures
- Participates in the assessment of the patient's, families-, and caregiver's spiritual needsProvides direct spiritual support to patients, families and caregivers according to their acceptance of spiritual counseling and in a manner consistent with the patient's, families' and caregivers' beliefs and desiresPossesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needsIn cooperation with other members of the hospice team, conducts or makes arrangements for funeral or memorial services as per the patient's and families' wishesPlays in integral role in the Bereavement Program in conjunction with professional, paraprofessional and volunteer staff.
- Facilitates visits by local clergy, pastoral counselors, or other individuals who can support the patient's, families' or caregiver's spiritual needs according to the patients /families / caregivers desires. Participates in the interdisciplinary team by ensuring that all team members are informed of the spiritual concerns of the hospice patient, family and caregivers Works constructively with the hospice Interdisciplinary Team to enhance the spiritual and emotional support provided to the patient, family and caregiver.
- Consults and coordinates services with other disciplinesProvides counseling/ spiritual support to members of the Interdisciplinary Team as neededPerforms duties and job responsibilities in a fashion which coincides with the service management philosophy of the organization towards patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians and other departments within the organizationIdentifies, develops and participates in process improvement opportunities within the hospice agency that will enhance the quality of the services provided
- Participates in the planning and presentation of memorial services as applicable. Identifies, investigates and recommends solutions to organizational issues. Proven ability to facilitate change.
Salary : $24 - $39
