- Education and experience
- B.S. degree in an engineering or quality related field along with 3 years related experience as an automotive quality engineer. Strong
- knowledge of engineering core tools/manufacturing processes including APQP, PFMEA, FMEA Six Sigma and manufacturing specifications. Ability to apply root cause problem solving techniques using 5Ys, 8Ds or similar approaches.
- Additional qualifications or skills
- Participation in Continuous Improvement Teams as well as the art to handle customer inquiries, concerns and complaints in professional manner is also required. Occasional travel to customer or suppliers will be required. Previous Automotive experience at Tier I/II level is a plus. Strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a team environment and proficiency with MS Office software is also necessary.
- Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
- Address, investigate and resolve all customer and internal quality issues.
- Ensure quality processes are meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Work with Engineering and Operations to identify quality improvement opportunities and implement creative solutions.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities to help drive cost down and improve overall plant performance.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Operations in the development of data collection systems and analysis including measurement systems analysis and the computerization of all systems and studies directed at improving overall plant quality, reliability and productivity.
- Assist in the development of plant wide quality assurance programs in conjunction with Engineering and Operations and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain customer approved statistical process control programs and evaluate and apply metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct quality deficiencies.
- Maintain and coordinate testing procedures used in production to ensure acceptable quality levels in conjunction with engineering specifications to include development of technique, frequency and proper documentation/reporting of results.
- Research and recommend techniques for solving quality-related engineering problems which may include identifying cost causes, instituting corrective action and monitoring results.
- Test product samples and document results for PSW submission and approval, coordinate with suppliers for similar submission and approval and maintain the necessary documentation and files for quality.
- Assist in the determining the disposition of rework and rejected internal products or from customers/suppliers and prepare the necessary documentation.
- Assist Engineering by providing technical support in the development and standardization of new products, gauging inspection procedures, supplier quality assurance, supplier audits and problem solving at the customer plant level.
Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.
