Key Role: The Food & Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of a nutritional food program for our students. This will include overseeing the Teaching Kitchen both from an operational and training aspect and the National School Lunch Program logistics, reporting and student food service. This vital position would ensure that all students eat a nutritious lunch and snacks, and that they are educated in a nutritious eating lifestyle.

- Maintains a clean and efficient Teaching Kitchen and ensures that food service, student training, special events and other kitchen usage is compliant with the goals and vision of Urban Youth Impact
- Coordinates with CREATE Manager in the facilitation of food & nutrition training programs designed to break generational eating habits and ensure a culture of nutritious food preparation
- Oversees the CCA School Logistics Coordinator in the scheduling and logistics of student lunch times, ensuring a smooth, efficient lunch time flow
- Designs interesting and entertaining student food preparation programs, take home menus, value food purchase options and actual food preparation tips
- Ensures that the Teaching Kitchen and student lunchrooms are clean and compliant with all Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and Florida Department of Health regulations, policies and procedures
- Maintains the Teaching Kitchen schedule for training and other events
- Promotes nutritious food programs and support to parents of students
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by the CREATE Manager
- The school lunch program is functioning smoothly and efficiently
- Nutritious food serve programming and guest experts help to convey a culture of nutritious eating
- Volunteers and contractors are welcomed and supported in their roles
- The Teaching Kitchen and lunchrooms are clean, organized and compliant with Urban Youth Impact expectations and all regulations, policies and procedures of State regulatory agencies
- All reporting requirements of the National School Lunch Program (through the FDACS) are complied with, and a strong, positive relationship is developed with the FDACS accredited food service vendor and smooth logistical protocols are in place.
- Families of the students have been drawn into the nutritious eating plan through special outreach programs and guest speakers
