Duties
- Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures.
- Sets up cafeteria lines, steamtables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary.
- Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation.
- Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactorily completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Satisfactorily completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 to include a medical examination.
- Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
- Light to heavy physical effort is required. Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
- Must be willing to accept a varying or rotating shift to include early mornings, days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
Ability to understand and follow simple instructions and be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
This position is a Flexible (Flex) position and there are 0 guaranteed hours per week. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits however, there is no upper limit to the number of hours a flexible employee may work (subject to overtime obligation and work scheduling requirements).

- This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
- Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
- Incentives will not be paid.
