What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Lift Operator position at US Container Depot?
US Container Depot is expanding their highly talented team at their Savannah, GA terminal and looking to hire a qualified Heavy Lift Operator. This is a full-time position, your schedule may vary and there may be some weekends and overtime, but no travel will be required. Pay will be based on skills and experience.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A HEAVY LIFT OPERATOR:
· Operates heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures.
· Conducts routine equipment inspections and performs preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records.
· Follows appropriate standard operating procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining vehicle.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
· Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way per all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
· Lift ISO containers from chassis and stack up to 4 high.
· Place ISO on to chassis and lock all corners correctly and safely.
· Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
· Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
· Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
· Advise the Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
· Participate in routine maintenance.
· Practice workplace safety.
· Complete all paperwork.
· Gate In/Gate Out.
· Inspection of ISO.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
· Safety regulations and precautions pertaining to vehicle use.
· Safe and proper use of assigned equipment and tools.
JOB DESCRIPTION REQUIREMENTS:
· Maneuver heavy equipment with ISO's attached.
· Stack ISO's safely.
· Understand and follow instructions from supervisors.
· Follow all safety instructions.
· Report to work on time and as scheduled.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Incumbent drives on surface streets and operates equipment on unpaved surfaces.
· Worker occasionally works past normal office hours to complete assignments.
· The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Heavy Equipment Operator must work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.
· The Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Requires the mobility to perform vehicle operating duties.
· The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects.
· The Heavy Equipment Operator must work in all weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previously worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for three (3) to five (5) years.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Pass hands on maneuvering and stacking test.
- Pass written test.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
