Salary Range: $30.90 to $36.06 per hour

Major duties: Performs a full range of an Electric Power Controller duties including:

  • Maintains constant surveillance of turbo generators, air compressors, electrical output panel, commercial power plant, etc.
  • Operates turbine generators, air conditioners, lube oil pumps, emergency gasoline generators, and economizer soot blowers.

TO BE FOUND QUALIFIED FOR THIS POSITION, APPLICANT MUST CLEARLY INDICATE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS ON THEIR RESUME:

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to do the work of an Electric Power Controller without more than normal supervision which includes: Operating power generation and/or distribution systems supporting industrial and/ or residential operations; Operating control panels to maintain correct alternating current cycles, power factors and/or electric loads on generators; Operating equipment such as: turbine and/or generators, and/or air compressors, and/or lube oil pumps, and/or condensate pumps, emergency gasoline generators. Monitoring of voltage and /or amperage. Making adjustments to the system to assure adequate power for load demands.

Requirements: Must be a US Citizen, Selective Service Registration, Proof of US Citizenship, Direct Deposit
Conditions of Employment:
-Must pass a pre-appointment Employment and annual physical.
-Must possess and maintain a valid State driver license and must obtain and maintain a Government Motor Vehicle operator's permit.
-Must pass a pulmonary function test by Occupational Health.
-Must work rotating shifts.
-This position is mission essential. Maybe called in to handle emergencies outside normal duty hours.
-This position has a requirement to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
-Required to wear appropriate safety gear and protective devices.
-Must pass a drug test prior to onboarding and annually thereafter.
-Boiler Operator license preferred.

Incentives: PCS costs may be authorized. Relocation or recruitment incentives may be authorized. Pending eligibility, Student Loan Repayment Assistance may be authorized. Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized. Credit for prior Non-Federal work experience and certain Military service for Determining annual leave accrual may be authorized.

This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment).
