What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer coordinator position at USCRI?
OVERVIEW
Located within the Des Moines Field Office, the Volunteer Coordinator / Admin Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the field office.
This position will coordinate confidential or highly sensitive projects, daily administrative operations of the office, research information, prepare reports and relay information, respond to a variety of inquiries, and complete administrative tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer and direct phone calls and visitors to the office;
- Communicate effectively with internal and external parties with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Volunteer coordination : applications, background checks, scheduling, volunteer hour record keeping.
- Tracking in-kind donations
- Maintain and update community contact and referral lists;
- Supporting Field Office Director with administrative tasks as necessary;
- Sorting and distribution of mail and email;
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor;

Position Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business administration, marketing, communication or a related field, or 2 years of experience in an administrative support role is required;
- Experience working with a non-profit organization is preferred;
- Experience with project management is desired;
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office : Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel are required;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and the capacity to work independently as well as in collaboration with others is required;
- Ability to practice discretion and maintain strict confidentiality and security of sensitive information; and
- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Satisfactory Completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor(s), program director or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
- Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.
