- Supervisory Duties.
- This position may have irregular hours and shifts and is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the Center Food Service program.
- Ensure that all areas of facility and equipment responsibility and well as kitchen and dining hall staff comply with food handling practices that comply with the state, local, or U.S. Public Health Service Food Code.
- Ensure preparation of food in a manner that retain food value and taste qualities.
- Make substitutions and changes adapting to unavailable food items, unforeseen Center program demands, and excessive (leftovers) food products based on sound nutritional requirements.
- Operate, breakdown, and clean food service equipment.
- Project, organize and plan all food purchasing, including food needed by other program areas using the most cost-effective methods while maintaining acceptable standards and quality food.
- Assure full compliance with safety regulations.
- Demonstrate leadership in establishing and maintaining a work environment that is free from discrimination and creates a sense of inclusion and support for all employees in the workplace.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

- Subject to one year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

- This is a Test Designated Position. You will be tested for illegal drugs prior to appointment and randomly thereafter. Appointment is conditional on negative results.
