What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Restaurant Facilities position at USHG?
Who you are:
An experienced Restaurant/Hotel Facilities leader, the Director of Restaurant Facilities will drive best practices for excellent and efficient operations regarding preventative maintenance, ongoing repairs, and capital expense projects. This position is responsible for ensuring all locations maintain a proactive management approach through ongoing facility reviews, favorable vendor contracts, and strict maintenance intervals all while adhering to monthly R&M budgets. Organization and multidisciplinary communication are critical to the success of this role. This position must exemplify Enlightened Hospitality in all interactions with our staff, guests, vendors, and the community.
What you’ll do:
- Manage all facilities needs of Union Square Hospitality Group including Daily Provisions
- Solicit, negotiate, recommend, and manage facilities vendor contracts including but not limited to HVAC, Refrigeration, Cooking Equipment, etc. for all existing and new locations.
- Manage enterprise-level relationships with vendors to ensure the highest level of service and accountability
- Solicit, negotiate, recommend, and oversee vendor proposals for Capital Expense Projects such as major equipment replacement or limited-scope renovations.
- Manage Facilities repair and maintenance costs vs monthly and annual budgets for all locations.
- Monitor the operation and use of all equipment and systems
- Ensure facilities are within code and regulatory compliance with local agencies including but not limited to DOB, DOH, FDNY, DEP, and DOT.
- Direct Facilities Team to support operations team with vendor coverage, issue troubleshooting, and emergency situations.
- Provide on-site support for internal operators or external vendors as needed. This may include off-hours visits or communications, including emergency coverage as needed.
- Oversee asset management, driving repair/replace decisions and dictating proactive replacement intervals for aged equipment.
What we need from you:
- At least 6 years of Facilities Management experience including leading a team of managers preferably in restaurants or hotel
- Prior experience in mechanical maintenance is a plus
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and facilities oversight skills.
- Prior experience with Facilities Management software, such as EcoTrak, Service Channel, or similar.
- Previous restaurant experience is a plus
- Computer knowledge/ Microsoft Office Suite
- Diplomatic communication skills with a high level of integrity
- Prior management experience – must excel at all points of management: Planning, Organizing, Directing, and Controlling.
- Proficient knowledge of systems and processes in operations
- Ability to lead and empower a team
- Ability to demonstrate discretion and leadership in complex employee relations matters
