JOB TITLE: CVI/CVD Engineer

LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL: Oak Ridge, TN, with minimal travel
DESCRIPTION: This position will lead the operation of CVI/CVD systems for the deposition of refractory ceramic carbides (SiC and ZrC) on nuclear fuel particles or elements. The engineer is responsible for the optimal and efficient operation of these systems and ensuring that health and safety, and quality assurance procedures are adhered to. This position reports to the Chemical Vapor Processing Group Leader in the Core Division. Your key responsibilities include the following:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate CVD/CVI systems in support of refractory ceramic and nuclear fuel manufacturing.
- Ensure reliable and safe operation of CVI/CVD systems in compliance with environmental health and safety (EH&S) and quality assurance requirements.
- Conduct and oversee required maintenance and calibration of CVI/CVD systems to ensure consistent operation and product quality.
- Strive to support and deliver on organizational objectives and key results
- Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of health and safety processes as well as company values and ethics
- Work with facility management and engineering to ensure manufacturing targets are met.
- Design and facilitate the fabrication of custom components and fixtures for a variety of processing equipment.
- Draft and maintain SOPs as needed
- Train and oversee technical staff as needed.
