Position Summary:
Provides technical skills for the performance of basic laboratory skills required in the preparing and analyzing of biopsies and cytology specimens.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Processes cytology specimens, stains and coverslips slides for Cytotechnologist.
2. Labels biopsy cassettes and prepares biopsy specimens for grossing using routine techniques.
3. Acquires laboratory specimens from contracted offices and clinics.
4. Logs patient data into computer system ensuring accuracy and completeness.
5. Files slides and paperwork.
6. Markets the Outreach Laboratory services to outside clinics and doctor offices.
7. May handle billing questions/problems from contracted clinics and doctor offices. Resolves all issues in a timely and professional manner.
8. May complete all medical transcriptions in a timely manner.
9. Triage clients service concerns.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Valid TX driving license and clean record; and moderate typing skills and medical terminology course or medical transcription skills.
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Six months of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
