What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Nurse Scientist position at UVA Medical Center?
A PhD-prepared nursing researcher who provides support for the UVA Health – University Medical Center nursing research program. Under the direction of the Senior Director, Nurse Scientist, coordinates, manages and provides expertise in the development, implementation, and dissemination of nursing research studies led primarily by nurses within medical center and in collaboration with UVA Health entities. Coaches, mentors, and facilitates the integration of nursing research to improve the delivery of care and professional nursing practice, in alignment with UVA Health – University Medical Center nursing strategic goals. Supports a program of research that results in national dissemination and external grant funding. Implements activities in accordance with the nursing strategic plan to advance the vision of nursing research and evidence-based practice for UVA Health. Mentors nurses by providing consultation, education, and guidance for nurse-led evidence-based practice (EBP) projects and research studies. Contributes to the development of clinical nurse leaders by developing them to mentor others in EBP. Supports external dissemination of nursing research and evidence-based practice projects (e.g. manuscript publications, conference presentations). Role models professional nursing practice behaviors measured through improved patient outcomes, increased efficiency, decreased cost, and enhanced visibility of UVA Health nursing research and EBP. Serves on and/or leads nursing and/or interprofessional workgroups and committees across UVA Health entities. Supports alignment of programmatic goals with Magnet® designation, accreditations and the UVA Health Nursing strategic plan. Fosters an environment for research activities that support excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $94,993.60 - $151,985.60 Annual MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Research doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNSc) or related field (ScD, EdD). If doctorate is in discipline other than nursing, must hold BSN or MSN. Experience: Demonstrated record of teaching evidence-based practice and research concepts and participation in scholarly activities including dissemination activities (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, oral presentations, abstracts). Demonstrated expertise in mentoring and coaching team members from a myriad of experience levels and backgrounds. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be results-driven, and work collaboratively License/Certification: Must hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and be eligible for licensure in Virginia.
