We are currently looking for a qualified applicant to fill the following position: FT - Seasonal - Camp Counselor (June 1-August 13, 2022)
Job Description: Under the Senior Vice President and President's authority and the Camp Program Coordinator's supervision, the Camp Counselor is responsible for the facilitation of programming and the supervision of the youth participating in the camp program, and administrative and clinical documentation of services as provided.
Critical Functions:
- To successfully engage and maintain youth throughout the camp program
- To provide quality supervision to youth during camp hours
- To facilitate experiential education and adventure- based programming
Essential Functions:
- To respond to crisis situations in a proactive manner and immediately report crises to camp program coordinator
- To attend team and staff meetings/supervision as scheduled
- To serve as a positive role model for youth
- To perform administrative responsibilities related to his/her/their work.
- To follow the policies, procedures, and rules in the agency personnel policies, code of business ethics, employee handbook and program procedure manual.
- To immediately report to the supervisor any situation in which a client is threatening to sue Valley Youth House.
- To complete all mandatory training prior to start of the Camp season
- Assist with Camp maintenance
Other Duties:
- The accurate and timely completion of personnel material.
- To complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.
- Supporting agency values and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Camp Counselor shall be a mature individual with knowledge of experiential education.
- He/She/They shall possess the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of Positive Youth Development in the Independent Living Program.
- The Camp Counselor shall have sound judgment and act as an appropriate role model to youth.
- He/She/They has/have never been convicted of any child abuse offenses.
- The fellow shall possess a high school diploma or equivalent and minimally be pursuing a BA/BS in human services.
