As the Senior Project Buyer you will be responsible for providing the Project Procurement Team with a single point of contact to schedule, coordinate, and track all aspects of project purchases and subcontracted production. You will communicate required schedules to Design Engineering, Project Management, Production, and other members of the Project Team to ensure timely completion of designs, specifications, production and procurement. Also, you will track supplier progress and effectively manage their performance to ensure quality and on-time completion of all purchased items. overseeing the procurement area in accordance with company business objectives. This includes strategic planning related to the strategy and guidelines at the lowest possible cost, highest on time performance and according to Valmet quality standards as well as being responsible for managing Supply Agreements for North America. In addition, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of employees within your area of responsibility. Examples of some essential responsibilities include; Full responsibility for the timely and effective procurement of all for all projects within the supported business line. Direct and lead the procurement of assigned specialty items such as: subcontract fabrication; subcontract machining; materials; installation contracts; miscellaneous purchased parts. Coordinate logistics for delivery of purchased items from domestic or international suppliers as well as all project purchases within the Supply Chain and Logistics Department to ensure all items conform to specifications and are obtained completely and in a timely manner. Ensure timely and accurate information exchange with the Project Team regarding procurement plans, schedules and anticipated workloads. Coordinate all matters regarding quality, design, specifications, and manufacturability to ensure compliance with all internal Valmet and Customer contractual obligations and requirements. Using an established project-reporting format, provides detailed procurement status and budget performance to the Project Team on a regular basis. Schedule and facilitate Project Procurement Status Meetings to resolve issues and clarify status. Publishes detailed reports, as required. Provide regular feedback to Design Engineering regarding vendor concerns with drawings and specifications. Schedule Quality Control inspections at suppliers for the portfolio of delivery projects. Schedule and conduct supplier kick-off meetings for purchase orders. Support supplier on-site audits for supplier on-boarding process. Maintain a qualified supplier base that can effectively and efficiently respond to the needs of Valmet. Responsible for vendor product quality and managing suppliers to ensure compliance with the Valmet Supplier Quality Specifications, Valmet Standards, and codes. Assist in the development of effective policies and procedures within the procurement function to ensure the efficient acquisition of goods and services that meet or exceed established quality standards and to ensure timely delivery to our customers. Complete special projects and assignments requested by the Manager. Supports and attends global meetings for the Pulp & Energy business line. Write contracts for installation of goods, equipment requiring performance guarantees, as well as supplier Master Purchase Agreements. What you’ll need; For this role, you will need a Four-year bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical field as well as other experience yielding equivalent technical and operational judgment is acceptable. CPM certification by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is preferred. You have computer skills including project management and ERP software, as well as knowledge of overall business planning software. A minimum of (5) years technical leadership experience in project administration, procurement or manufacturing. You can apply principals of logical thinking to a wide variety of problems. Must have a working knowledge of contract law, purchasing functions and logistics. Experience in purchasing manufactured/engineered items and experience reading and interpreting machining/fabrication drawings. You also have prior experience within a manufacturing/fabrication environment. A definite asset would be experience or knowledge of the following standards: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Non-destructive Testing (ASNT) What we offer?
