Start at $24 /hr PLUS $2/hr Shift Differential Available Shifts: 3rd Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Sub Arc Base Welder position in the Engineered Support Structures (ESS) - Large Pole Department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will operate the Sub Arc Base Welder to weld bases of steel shafts. Additionally, you will... Load and unload steel shafts into Base Welder with an overhead crane Preheat baseplate, if required Operator Base Welder and observe the weld head as the weld is deposited Adjust amperage and flux flow to meet quality specifications May be assigned to work in other work centers when machine is not in operation What it takes Required Qualifications The ability to accurately read a tape measure The ability to pass an American Welding Society (AWS) welder operator qualification test for submerged arc welding (SAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) The ability to operate overhead cranes The ability to setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty The ability to make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery The ability to read and decipher blue prints and flat sheets without assistance and use them to properly weld scheduled work Highly qualified candidates will also possess: Previous experience as a Valmont Welder A and Welder B status for 90 days AWS certified in MIG and Flux core welding or SAW and GMAW processes One year of previous experience in a professional welding position The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner Must have a high awareness for safety at all times Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Benefits Valmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Well-being benefit package to ensure their individual and family's overall wellness needs are met.
