Summary:
As a Valpak sales manager you are a “player-coach”, responsible for selling Valpak solutions in the market and also leading a small team of sales representatives who are local media experts. Your sales team will consult with local and regional businesses to propose and close print and digital programs that help them achieve their business goals. Valpak solutions are straightforward, contemporary - and the products work! You will be responsible for achieving your individual own sales quota, as well as guiding, developing and motivating the other local sales reps, as the Valpak market lead, to increasing levels of success. The Valpak leader is a selling sales manager that enjoys and prioritizes being out in the field with their sales reps, coaching and developing the team, developing trusted relationships with existing and new clients – and participating in key proposals and closing deals. The sales manager is involved in the local business community and is the lead brand evangelist for Valpak in the local market.
Responsibilities
Time in the role can vary based on the number of sales representatives in the local market, but a general guideline is 60% spent on direct individual selling efforts and 40% spent leading and developing others
Direct Sales - Consult with local and regional businesses, selling Valpak media solutions to meet their business needs and achieve assigned sales goals
Compensation

Qualifications
7 years of demonstrated direct sales experience with a proven record of success
2 years of demonstrated sales management experience with a proven record of success
Experience in print and digital advertising sales preferred, but not required
Ability to gain the trust, confidence and respect of the team they lead, and inspire them to increasing levels of achievement
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies and tactics, operate with urgency, hit deadlines and achieve sales objectives
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with emphasis on engagement and persuasion
Must personally possess and be able to nurture from their sales reps a curiosity and a true passion for talking face-to-face with local businesses, stimulating customer interest and helping develop effective solutions.
Well-developed contemporary productivity and technological skills (computer, Internet, Word, Excel, CRM, Mobile and Social)
Understanding of traditional and digital media platforms
Strong analytical skills
College degree is preferred
Ability to foster a positive local team culture that influences the right behaviors and outcomes
Ability to hire, train and develop sales employees to maximize their success and contribution to the business and to minimize employee turnover

- Team Lead - Lead a local team of Valpak sales representatives across a spectrum of activities including but not limited to generating new business and providing exceptional service to existing clients to renew and upgrade existing programs
- Provide ongoing training, coaching and development for existing and new sales reps
- Develop and execute effective local sales tactics and strategies to achieve sales objectives
- Ensure sales activity is being applied in the market with the required effort to cover the opportunity and maximize outcomes
- Lead your sales team through the effective use of Salesforce.com and system best practices
- Hire new sales reps as needed and minimize employee turnover to ensure staffing levels are maintained in line with market opportunity and coverage needs
- Develop personal trusted relationships with the top Valpak clients in the market
- Meet and exceed established sales goals
- Meet key deadlines, including deliverables to senior management such as market updates and reliable ongoing sales forecasting
- Network in the community as the key local Valpak brand ambassador to support both revenue and staffing needs
- Stay current on local market and industry trends, and ensure the same from the sales team
