Overview
VHB, a nationally recognized leader in design, is seeking an Environmental Science Intern to work in our Watertown, MA office. The position includes travel to various New England field sites and occasionally other VHB offices.
VHB’s passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Assist with fieldwork, including wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and rare plant and wildlife surveys
- Assist in the preparation of state and federal environmental permits for public and private-sector projects
- Research and interpret environmental laws and regulations
- Gather and interpret required environmental project-related data
- Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work long hours outside during adverse conditions
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field
- Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
- Ability to manage complex planning and design projects from conception through completion
