Sr Application Engineer III

The internal crew uses the new account open product to enroll new clients to the Vanguard platform. The prime goal of the Account Services team is to modernize the existing New account open product using latest technology stack deployed on AWS cloud. The modernization effort will enhance the existing system, eliminate the existing pain points for end users and reduce the processing time for enrolling a new client. As an Application Engineer III, you will be involved in the design & development effort needed in modernization of the existing legacy system. You will make an impact doing the following:• Your hands on coding design and architecture decisions will drive the future of the applications and take them to completion.• You will have the opportunity to help evaluate new frameworks through proof of concepts to accelerate the team moving forward.• Your coaching and pairing with the team will be key to productive lean agile development, doing what is right for the client, the quality of the applications, and encouraging a continuous learning culture within the team.• You will be encouraged to attend industry learning events, local seminars, and self-driven trainings to stay up to date on the latest trends and available solutions.• By sharing your innovative ideas, strong interpersonal skills, and challenging the status quo you will be a strong partner for our business, who you will work closely with for solutioning.• You will be involved in architecture decisions in breaking down the monolithic application into microservices• Design and develop AWS microservices built in Java or Python and exposed as REST APIs, deployed as docker containers on AWS ECS, multi-region. • Will be involved in development of Angular components and integrating with the REST APIs to build user friendly, resilient and efficient product for the internal vanguard crew.Core Responsibilities1. Provides senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.2. Translates technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.3. Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.4. Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understands development architecture standards. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves elevated issues.5. Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Performs systems analysis activities.6. Thoroughly understands client business functions and technology needs. Has a broad understanding of Vanguard?s technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.7. Interfaces with cross functional team members, and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.8. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies that deliverables meet requirements.9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.The following expertise will set you apart:Front-end JavaScript frameworks, preferred - Angular 11 or above, Boot strap, Spring framework, Spring boot, AWS microservices, Java 8 or above, JPA, REST APIs, API Gateways , AWS Elastic Container Services Infrastructure as code/cloud formation, Security Architecture, Relational databases, SRE and DevOps best practices for continuous deliveryCurrent stack includes: Angular 13, Java 11, Spring Boot, Spring data, REST APIs, DynamoDB, Mainframe DB2, Docker Containers, AWS ECS, AWS Cloud Watch, Splunk, SQLQualifications Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
