Job Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and Assessing Patients: Need to closely monitor and assess the condition of critically ill patients, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen levels, and neurological status. They continuously evaluate the patient's response to treatments and interventions.
• Administering Medications and Treatments: Administer medications, including intravenous drugs, vasoactive medications, and pain management medications. They may also perform procedures such as wound care, insertion of catheters or tubes, and assisting with ventilator management.
• Operating and Monitoring Medical Equipment: Shall be skilled in operating and monitoring various medical devices and equipment, such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and dialysis machines. They ensure proper functioning and troubleshoot any issues.
• Collaborating with the Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and implement the patient's care plan. They provide updates on patient conditions and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
• Educating and Supporting Patients and Families: Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families. They explain procedures, treatment plans, and promote self-care and coping strategies. They also assist families in understanding the critical care environment and help them make informed decisions.
• Managing Emergency Situations: Should be trained to handle emergency situations promptly. They are skilled in recognizing and responding to cardiac arrests, respiratory distress, and other critical events. They initiate resuscitation measures, perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and coordinate with the code blue team.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatments, medications administered, and responses to interventions. They ensure proper documentation for continuity of care and legal purposes.
• Adhering to Infection Control and Safety Protocols: Follow strict infection control measures and safety protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Continuous Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and professional development to stay updated with the latest advancements in critical care. They attend training, conferences, and workshops to enhance their knowledge and skills.
