VCA Aurora Animal Hospital is expanding its Neurology Service and is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician!
Our Neurology Service:
Our Neurology service comprises of two board-certified neurologists, Certified Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Patient Care Coordinators. Our neurologists are available for appointments five days a week, and have access to all specialties within the hospital, ensuring comprehensive, collaborative care.
VCA Aurora's Neurology Service primary focus is to improve a pet's quality of life by providing effective neurological treatment and supportive services. From diagnostic screening to recovery, our Neurology service offers advanced, comprehensive care to treat pets.
Our Neurology Technicians are exposed to diverse and stimulating caseload. They provide exceptional care to every patient from initial exam to discharge.
Primary job responsibilities include:
- Provide anesthesia and nursing care for the Neurology Service
- Creating individualized anesthetic protocols in collaboration with Neurologists
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging (Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound)
- Assist with all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge, including departmental rounds
- Communicate with clients and help manage long term patient care
- Help provide neurological patient education to clients
- Physical examinations and patient assessments
- Venipuncture/IVC placement
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician or sitting for the VTNE
- Strong skill in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols and monitoring and recovery
- Must be able to work successfully as part of a team
- Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 40 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and staff members
Schedule: Full-Time, four 10-hour weekdays. Upon complete training with the Surgery Service (commonly three months), associates will train to perform on-call surgery duties. They will be included in an on-call rotation for both Surgeons and Neurologists. Bonuses apply!
Compensation: $ 22 - 30 / hour
Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field/specialty. Financial growth opportunities available.
