What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Engine Engineer position at Vector CSP?
Overview:
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Ship Design & Systems Engineering Division (CG-459), Human Systems Integration (HSI) Division (CG-1B), and Surface Forces Logistics Center Engineering Services Division (SFLC-ESD) provides complete life cycle management of surface assets from concept development through disposal. This includes tasks relating to the acquisition of new cutters and boats, maintenance and upgrade of existing assets, management and maintenance of vessel configuration and performance characteristics, and engineering and design support services.
Job Summary:
Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel engines to include Caterpillar/MaK, MTU, Fairbanks Morse MAN/ALCO, Yanmar, and Cummins for current ships and boats. Diagnose engine issues, identify repairs and solutions for future use. Provide key support services to in-service vessels to include engine hours and usage studies, recommendations for overhaul or renewal, and advanced troubleshooting. Provide plans for maintenance and upkeep of engines for stakeholders. Provide expertise for new design and trade studies.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years' documented progressive experience with MTU, Caterpillar/MaK, Fairbanks Morse/MAN/ALCO, Cummins, or Yanmar diesel engines, components, and control systems.
Essential Duties:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for MTU, Caterpillar/MaK, Fairbanks Morse/MAN/ALCO, Cummins, or Yanmar diesel engine systems on boats and cutters to provide solution
- Provide recommendations for system improvements
- Provide training on systems and equipment
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- MTU 1b dongle certification
