Construction Accountant

LOCATION: SIOUX FALLS,SD

The accounting manager will be responsible for supervising and managing the accounting processes for Veldhouse Construction. Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The accounting manager will be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing appropriate general ledger entries and reconciliations to produce complete and accurate financials. This position will work closely and communicate regularly with the Accounts Payable Department, Controller and Director of Operations. The accounting manager will supervise, evaluate and monitor all day-to-day accounting activities. Strong communication skills and ability to delegate work to appropriate parties are important.

Duties:

Oversee accounting daily operations
Monitor and analyze accounting data
Reconcile and review accounting transactions. Make adjusting entries as necessary
Preparation of monthly financials statement reports
Monthly reconciliation of jobs
Job costing
Percentage of completion calculations and financial statement adjustments
Review all purchases and sales of assets to ensure gain is properly recorded
Reconcile completed contracts and record gain/loss appropriately
Help develop and prepare monthly management reports
Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles
Oversee accounts receivable process
Put together monthly client billings and communicate/distribute to appropriate parties
Bi-weekly payroll and associated tax filings and reporting
Annual 1099 filings
Excise tax return filings
Preparation of financial information for annual insurance audit
Miscellaneous accounting projects as requested by the Controller
Assist accounts payable team as necessary to complete tasks as needed
Be a resource to help staff with questions/issues as they arise
Continue to help develop accounting processes and procedures for Veldhouse Construction
Build efficiencies and provide recommendations

5-7 years accounting experience
Prior construction accounting experience preferred but not required
Public accounting background
