Job Summary:

As Executive Director of Accounts Receivable, you will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our Accounts Receivable function, with a strong emphasis on clinical research billing, revenue cycle management, and collections activities. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing a dynamic team, optimizing processes, and driving strategy.

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a forward-looking and worldwide strategy for the Accounts Receivable function that is uniquely attuned to the complex world of clinical research billing, revenue cycle management, and collections. Lead the transformation of the team to support our evolving business needs while maintaining high standards of service and compliance within the clinical research industry
• Provide visionary leadership to a team of accounts receivable professionals. Set clear goals, performance expectations, and foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and contribute to their career growth within the specialized field
• Leverage your deep understanding of clinical research billing processes and revenue cycle management to optimize billing practices, reduce payment cycles, and ensure accurate reimbursement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions specific to healthcare financial operations
• Lead the development of efficient and effective collections strategies tailored to the clinical research sector. Monitor and analyze collections data to drive actionable insights and make informed decisions that contribute to improved cash flow management for services rendered
• Evaluate and implement technology solutions specific to clinical research financial operations that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounts receivable processes. Leverage specialized financial software and tools to optimize collections and reporting within the clinical research context
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the team and across the organization. Initiate and lead initiatives that drive innovation and operational excellence tailored to the healthcare industry
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Able to demonstrate proficiency in advanced financial modeling tools, to leverage data analytics effectively. Experience with other data visualization and business intelligence tools is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams in the specialized healthcare financial domain.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to drive data-driven decision-making within the context of healthcare operations.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with internal and external executive level healthcare stakeholders.
• Proficiency in specialized financial software and tools within the healthcare industry, with the aptitude to adopt new technologies.
• In-depth experience within the clinical research, healthcare or medical services industry is essential.
• Working knowledge of financial concepts, theory, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Advanced knowledge of Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (NetSuite/JDE/Oracle), and various accounting software packages.
• Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX compliance) a plus.
• Strong communication, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications preferred.
• Proven experience (10 years) in accounts receivable management within the clinical research sector, with a focus on billing, revenue cycle management, and collections.
• Previous management/leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of clinical research billing practices, revenue cycle optimization, and collections strategies specific to clinical research. 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
