SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for coordination of operations and oversight of workers at numerous construction sites. Acts as the liaison between workers and supervisors/superintendents; has specialized knowledge of a given trade and is now focused on an overall management of his/her trade on the job site. Responsible for providing proper documentation to workers so they can proceed with tasks. May train employees under his/ her supervision, ensures appropriate use of equipment by employees, communicates progress on the project to a supervisor and may maintain employees schedules. A Foreman may also arrange for materials to be at the construction site and evaluate plans for each construction job.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees and ensures that all safety rules are always being followed at all sites.
- Produces work schedules in accordance with the availability of employees, contractors and labor laws and monitor the attendance of crew.
- Coordinates daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
- Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment including training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
- Resolves conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
- Reports project status to supervisors.
- Act as the liaison between construction workers and supervisors.
- Solves disputes between workers.
- Ensures that a project is adequately staffed.
- Assigns tasks to construction workers.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Four (4) years experience as a construction foreman.
- Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others.
- Aptitude in math and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Prior military experience preferred.
- Valid Driver s license.
- Travel may be required.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.

- Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance, and use, and OSHA guidelines.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Good physical condition and stamina.
- Ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions.
- Well-organized and always focused on safety above all.
- Deep knowledge of the construction industry and processes.
- Understanding of use and maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Perform quality checks on construction equipment.

Work is medium demand. Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires good visual acuity and hearing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
