Job Description
Pay Rate : $43.00 to $50.00 Per Hour.

Position Purpose :
Directs day to day activities of four inspectors. Conducts training, assigns tasks, monitors progress, and provides input to performance reviews.
Conducts inspection activity, compliance action, and prepares control mechanisms for complex facilities. Prepares drafts of routine reports.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities :
Based on a thorough understanding of 40 CFR 403, evaluate elements of pretreatment program for effectiveness and efficiency and prepare routine written status reports.
Provide input to semi-annual and annual Pretreatment Program reports.
- Direct, train, and provide expertise to Pretreatment Technicians.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures and protocols. Recommend and draft revisions as necessary in response to changes in the regulatory and working environment.
- Manage Pretreatment Program in the absence of designated Program Manager.
- Represent UW-Burbank ISRCP at public events, in professional associations, and at inter-agency workgroups (e.g., LA County Environmental Crimes Strike Force).
- Conduct a complete pretreatment inspection (review file, determine necessary tasks, assemble equipment, transport self and equipment safely to site, interact with site personnel, identify violations of code / control mechanism, collect sample, document activity, explain record of activity to contact and resultant obligations, schedule and conduct follow up activity, deliver evidence to lab and data repository, and update data management system).
- Produce an appropriate control mechanism (deliver a permit application, assist contact in completing application, review completed applications, conduct permit inspection to collect data not provided on application necessary to prepare fact sheet, compare collect data to regulatory standards, prepare Permit Fact Sheet, deliver and explain requirements of control mechanism to site personnel, and update data management system).
- Conduct compliance activity (identify, investigate, and document violations, implement Enforcement Response Plan, schedule and conduct appropriate follow up activity, and update data management system).
- Collect surveillance samples from the collection system.
- Evaluate self monitoring reports for compliance with code and control mechanisms.
- Assumes other responsibilities, as required.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background :
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- This is an Advanced Level position.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Familiarity and adherence to all environmental and safety compliance regulations.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft ACCESS.
- Observation and recording, negotiation, time management, supervisory.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to handle multiple tasks and shift priorities as necessary.
- Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting via data analysis.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training :
- Special License / Certification required : CWEA TCP Environmental Compliance Inspection Grade II (Grade III is highly desirable).
