Job Description
Verisk 3E is looking for a Staff Attorney to join the team. This position reports directly to our General Counsel and can be based in any of our U.S. office locations. We are open to hiring remotely for the right candidate.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing broad commercial legal support to the company’s global sales organization, guiding complex transactions through review, negotiation and execution in a fast-paced, high volume environment, and partnering with Sales, Sales Support and Product teams to ensure exceptional sales enablement and accelerating deal velocity.
What You’ll Achieve
The Staff Attorney will join a strong legal team within 3E that provides strategy and support for sales contracting activities globally. The right candidate will have experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, including those supporting Cloud and “SaaS” offers, strong time management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a “can-do” problem solving mindset, and a commitment to career growth and personal development. An interest in technology, a keen eye for process improvement, and good sense of humor are also valuable.
You Will:
- Structure, draft and provide expertise in business and legal requirements to support a high volume and broad range of commercial contracts, including license agreements, service agreements, professional services agreements, order forms, etc.
- Advise on legal, regulatory and compliance requirements for technology products and services, including Cloud and “aaS” offers.
- Respond to legal inquiries, assisting the company's personnel and internal clients with regard to legal issues as needed.
- Provide general subject matter guidance to business and legal teams regarding partnership and go-to-market matters.
- Build relationships with the business stakeholders and teams. Understand and support their vision and priorities.
- Bring in other experts – we don’t expect you to have all the answers – but you need to be a connector, bringing the experts together from other areas of the business to reach the correct decisions in support of the business at the right times.
Qualifications
Essential Position Requirements:
- A qualified attorney admitted to practice in one or more states in the United States and a member of one or more state Bar(s) in good standing.
- 2 years relevant experience and demonstrated success as a lawyer/ commercial attorney with relevant experience in a law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
- Experience supporting a large sales organization with significant knowledge of commercial contracts terms common in the information technology industry.
- Proven ability to provide entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, pragmatic, business-oriented advice and recommendations that distinguish between theoretical and practical risk.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to advocate for a position while maintaining a collaborative and open-minded approach.
