Food Specialist II
Responsible for supporting field sales organization in growing and closing profitable sales at food processing customers. Provides expertise and skill to field sales reps in how to increase sales with new and existing customers by creating value through custom specific food packaging solutions, finding cost savings, and improving packaging processes. Responsible for driving success and making improvements in alignment with the group strategy for increasing profitability, growing sales & margins, and reducing costs associated with our food packaging business.
Responsible for key account support within Food processing vertical in assigned area. Support provided through subject matter expertise, training, and overall account sales strategies. Supports unit sales plan through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities. Typical pre-sales activities include gaining understanding of customer’s business and analysis of customer’s system and product needs. Prepares and presents technical proposals of Veritiv solutions to meet customer requirements. Typical post-sale activities include gathering data on Veritiv product/solution performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides technical sales support to assure direct food contact packaging products meet customer application fitness for use requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with core supplier strategies.
- Actively participate in food segment sales pipeline reviews with Sales Mangers, and Sales Representatives.
- Supports sales organization through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities.
- Provide product application guidance and market insights related to segment target opportunities.
- Lead overall food packaging sales effort for assigned area.
- Achieve area revenue, margin and profitability performance objectives.
- Lead training and associated competency assessments for sales reps focused on food vertical segment.
Required Skills:
- Proven track record in sales and new client generation in the food industry—past experience in flexible films, high barrier packaging and food packaging systems.
- Extensive knowledge of food packaging technologies including modified atmosphere packaging, retort, aseptic, and high pressure pasteurization.
- High level of professional integrity.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required, or equivalent work experience.
- 8 years work experience in food packaging industry with business to business sales experience.
- Experience working across entire food industry value chain.
- 50% travel is required.
