The Cyber Exercise Manager Role will serve as the leader for the Verizon Threat Management Center - Cyber Exercise program (TMC-CE) and will oversee a team of Analysts planning, designing, and executing cyber focused exercises. The Cyber Exercise Manager is responsible for the full life-cycle of exercise activities (plan, design, execution, and evaluation) across Verizon businesses and cyber security teams in a controlled environment helping to identify gaps in people, processes, and technology. This position is considered a thought leader, making key decisions on; how to structure and guide cyber exercises, communicating with senior leaders on current status and outcomes, and validating new cyber security initiatives’ implementation and/or effectiveness by testing/validating our Cyber Response Plan. The result of these activities support the overall team strategy and strengthen our incident response and coordination processes.
- Perform exercise planning, scenario development, training objectives, after action reports, lessons learned, and briefings to senior leaders
- Facilitate table top exercises for key leaders and stakeholders, testing communication, escalations and deliberations on key decisions
- Build and maintain an effective cyber exercise and training program across Verizon
- Identifying additional training opportunities for security teams and end-users
- Establish an in-house cyber exercise and training program capability integrated with Business Continuity and Emergency Management (BCEM) teams based on repeatable best practice processes
- Utilize exercises to validate new cyber security initiatives’ implementations and/or effectiveness by testing/validating our Cyber Response Plan
- Evaluate and coordinate with various range providers
- Identify and plan the creation of threat simulations for use on persistent cyber training environments
- Facilitate exercises to constantly improve cyber security incident response via process improvement and security control effectiveness
- Enhance collaboration on cyber incident readiness with Verizon business partners and vendors
- Provide training and mentoring of junior and mid-career team members
- Attract, retain, and lead a team of employees by educating, developing and managing to deliver strong results
- Responsible for all aspects of the team’s performance management activities to include goal setting, conducting reviews, check-ins, and disciplinary action, as needed

What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience leading or working with a Cyber Exercise program.
- Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with Incident Response and Security Operations Center (SOC) processes.
- Fully trained on the Plan, Brief, Execute, and Debrief (PBED) process.
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities in a high pressure environment
- Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and mentoring experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience presenting to executive and senior leadership
- Strong relationship skills and collaborative style to enable success across multiple partners
- Demonstrates effective organizational and technical skills
- Exhibits initiative, follow-up and follow through with commitments
- Manages multiple priorities in a high pressure environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
