What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Vernis & Bowling?
Vernis & Bowling's Islamorada office is seeking paralegals to join our team. We are a fast-paced civil litigation defense firm. Ideal candidates will have General Liability experience.
Job Duties (include but are not limited to):
- Summarizes records and court files
- Schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses & other special functions
- Research sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and public records
- Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts
- Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents, and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.
- Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts
- Maintain attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year's prior experience with General Liability
- Proven administrative/clerical/organizational abilities
- Proficient in Office 2007 (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), as well as Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Legal Residence in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Mississippi
