About The Position

The Vice President of Accounting/Controller is responsible for all Accounting related activities, including high level accounting, managerial accounting and financial activities within the Company.  This individual plays a leading role in the creation, implementation and monitoring of the company's annual budget and related performance.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. 
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of business.
  • Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
  • Keep up to-date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits.
  • Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing.
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all department staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements:

 

  • 10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience in the consumer financial services industry with 3 years in a supervisory/management capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Ability to negotiate, review and understand complex financial documentation as well as create and analyze cash flow models and review and understand financial statements.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner.
  • Strong leadership skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organizing, decision making and delegation with the ability to manage and direct the work of others.
  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in SQL with demonstrated experience in data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.    

 

Salary: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually
