Produce Manager

Manages All aspects of produce quality and order management

Objective

This is a unique opportunity for a person with the right aptitudes and interests to learn, from the ground up, all the processes associated with produce quality and inventory management in a grocery store. Once fully trained, the person in this position will assume the role of Produce Manager and oversee produce ordering, receiving and processing, some work order processing, communicating with vendors and suppliers and handling stock orders. Activities include but are not limited to order processing, maintaining and updating inventory records and working with the General Manager and other team members to identify, source and supply replacement inventory in a fast-pace sales driven environment.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Have an interest and aptitude in produce management.
• Oversee operations and staffing for the Produce department.
• Responsible for department staff training, assignments and scheduling.
• Demonstrate a strong analytical ability.
• Process Produce Orders and Quote Requests.
• Maintain Customer and Supplier Relations.
• Expedite Back Orders.
• Produce ordering experience, ability to anticipate inventory needs prior to running out of stock.
• Ensure that customers are getting the best value for their produce purchase.
• Ensure quality and freshness of all produce.
• Ensure that inventory is tracked, and counts remain accurate.
• Assist with customers and fielding phone calls.
• Is a liaison between the store and the customer.
• Return rejected produce as needed to the vendor as required.
• Keeping the Produce area clean and organized.
• Work collectively with other team members to achieve organizational goals
• Respects and maintains the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information.
• Required Skills and Experience
• Excellent disposition and patience in dealing with customers and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Superior attention to details.

Job requires sitting, standing, reading, writing, computer skills, walking and lifting at 20 to 50 lbs. occasionally in Office and Warehouse environments.
