Position Summary
Under the direction of the Donor Services Supervisor, supports Donor Specialists, Senior Donor Specialists, and Team Leads by identifying efficient and effective ways to support a positive and quality experience for each donor through quality and safety that promotes donor experience and employee engagement.
This role is focused on current high school students looking to gauge real world experience in the field of health care.
4-weeks paid training to begin after first day to include medical interviewing skills learning to perform duties of role.
Responsibilities
Greets and treats donors and co-workers with respect and courtesy.
- Conducts donor registration.
- Performs donor screening (collects donor histories), mini-physical, and finger stick.
- Can be appointed to escort donors (especially at High Schools) to refreshment area and assist with reaction by ensuring donor safety by guiding donor to the floor, reports incident to Team leader or Phlebotomist for donor treatment.
- Performs arm care procedure post donation and provides post donation instructions.
- Rebooks donors for future appointments.
- Packs supplies and equipment for mobile drives.
- Maintains work average of 8-10 hours a week per scheduled hours around school and extra curricular activities.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
- Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
Qualifications
Education
High School enrollment or active enrollment in general education program required
Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to assist in problem solving required
- Knowledge of standardized work routines and methods, general facts and information and / or the use of simple equipment, machines and materials.
Knowledge is usually acquired through training on the job required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals required
- Basic mathematical aptitude required
- Ability to organize work to provide productive work flow required
- Flexibility to work independently and with a team required
- Strong attention to detail required
- Good communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback to peers required
