Description and Requirements
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading and managing Consultants within a Consulting Practice. This role is responsible for managing the Consultants practice, for delivering a portfolio of practice consulting services and delivering practice revenue in an increasing diverse channel of complex clients. This is accomplished by leading a team of consultants and by working in partnership with other lead consultants, practice leaders, strategic sales teams, and Alliance Partners. This position will also be tasked to lead on strategic and/or complex engagements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable for operational and financial metrics and the business results of the consultants they manage.
Provides strategic leadership and oversight in support of the Practice’s achievement of business objectives in alignment of annual corporate goals.
Collaborates with Major Accounts Team during the sales process to demonstrate the delivery strategy and plan to maximize client value.
Anticipates the future needs of our customers’ business and impact on own product/service objectives.
Assures delivery excellence that creates standard practices to support selling and provide delivery of solutions.
Manages the resource capacity to deliver against customer demand by leverage the Alliance.
Partners with Channel to support peak periods.
Contributes to the attainment of a shared Practice vision and mission, setting objectives, measuring ongoing progress toward achieving objectives and initiating correction action.
Creates an overall team environment that stimulates new ideas, challenges the status quo, identifies future initiatives, and instills the desire to excel.
Applies situational leadership concepts across various intra and inter-departmental matters.
May lead projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Occasional business travel may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determine appropriate resourcing of staff in order to achieve goals and objectives.
Build an effective leadership team through mentoring and formal education that focuses on management and project management principles.
Define annual Key Performance Indicators aligned with corporate goals.
Manage and mentor employees and/or managers on performance gaps, career development opportunities, and strategies.
Manage and coach employees and/or managers on all human resource related processes including onboarding, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, selection, terminations, compensation and rewards.
Recognize others’ contributions and share credit for success.
Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of program and initiatives within group to attain high employee satisfaction.
Prepare and manage budget as assigned; analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions to maximize operational performance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in guiding and ramping up consulting recruits.
Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships at the “C” level.
In-depth tax application experience working with ERP business applications; understanding of ERP tax configuration to the organization's Indirect Tax products.
Deep understanding of the end-to-end financial accounting and business process flows from ERP business applications to the organization's Indirect Tax applications .
Ability to assess and manage customer and business expectations.
Ability to establish clear client objectives, approach, process and plan to achieve promised value of Vertex Indirect Tax solutions.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel workstreams.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels within the organization.
Ability to manage multiple, complex relationships successfully.
Ability to facilitate consensus when confronted with strong opposing views.
Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation and facilitation) skills.
Must possess strong EQ skills and exhibit emotional stability and maturity in the face of highly emotional and stressful situations.
Must be results oriented, customer focused and able to manage multiple high-visibility or high- impact projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages is required.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
Five (5) plus years of consulting or industry experience required.
One (1) plus years of consulting services leadership responsibility required.
MBA and/or CPA equivalent experience, a plus.
ERP, Tax/Tax Technology or Tax Professional Certifications and/ or Credentials preferred.
Direct engagement management experience including project, people, customer, and financial management.
Experience implementing full life cycle ERP/Tax applications.
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
