What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Manager position at Vertiv Co.?
Vertiv is hiring a Logistics Manager in Lorain or Westerville, Ohio who will be responsible for logistical flow of material for Services Supply Chain in warehousing and freight spend. Work with multiple internal customers to ensure the proper storage and material movement, with external 3PL Suppliers, to help support Customer Project efforts and to ensure the timely Customer expectations. Conduct Freight Analysis to ensure that proper use of Freight Service levels and to drive year over year freight savings to the Organization.
Functions
- Manage a successful relationship with 3PL warehouse operator including, conducting weekly RAIL and Quarterly QBR meetings, root cause analysis on performance gaps, maintain KPI’s to drive improvement and negotiating contracts, while working with Indirect Procurement team.
- Travel and audit existing warehouses to ensure processes are being maintained to Vertiv Standards.
- Drive for improvement throughout team utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Freight analysis of all Services spend, driving for proper use of freight service levels and ensuring the utilization of primary freight carriers.
- Work with Freight Indirect Procurement team to ensure needs of external and internal customers are met and drive freight spend reduction.
- Develop and standardize freight claim process to ensure proper freight recovery.
- Develop and maintain approved supplier list of moving and storage companies to help support material movement of time sensitive External Customer Projects.
- Work with IT to develop and maintain system integrations between Vertiv and Supplier Operating systems.
- Coach and train employees to ensure compliance with Vertiv Processes and SOPs and to provide development of employee talent within the company, while maintaining a continuous improvement and learning culture.
- Interact daily with Internal Customers, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Purchasing Field Service and Finance.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of problem-solving tools
- Education or experience with Self-directed work teams.
- Experience with employee supervision
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Customer focused
- Lean Six Sigma methodology
- International shipping experience
- Oracle EBS ERP
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management or Logistics. An Associate’s degree or Military certification, in Materials Management and six years of direct related experience will be held equivalent.
- At least three to five years of experience with Supervising employees.
- PC applications literate (Microsoft products- Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Oracle EBS.
