POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Strategy and Planning leader to help us drive the next wave of growth at Vertiv. A successful candidate will have a partner mindset built on a foundation of intelligent and independent creative thinking, coupled with being a driven team player and a desire to deliver impact across Vertiv. 

The Corporate Strategy and Planning Director at Vertiv provides leadership and oversight to global initiatives of strategic importance to the organization by leading a cross-functional workgroup to enable a companywide approach for developing and deploying strategic plans at the business unit and corporate level, fostering collaboration, and holding ourselves accountable to achieve those plans.  This role sits at a critical intersection point of product, technology, sales go-to-market, operations, finance, and other functional areas to create cohesion. As part of the team, this role is responsible for developing a long-term outlook for the business, supporting critical decision making, and ensuring Vertiv maintains a strong position in strategy and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Drive the annual strategic planning process through a cross-functional working team to align the organization around a common strategy    

  • Lead a cross-functional workgroup to refresh our corporate strategy; upholding and adapting milestones and planning cycle process; synthesizing of multiple data points and rolling up individual business plans to create a cohesive and consistent corporate strategy.
  • Become a thought partner of leadership and maintain a longer-term outlook to identify risks and opportunities, making sure the urgent doesn’t crowd out the important
  • Conduct market assessments, benchmark growth rates, align go to market plans and ultimately provide recommendations for new entries and/or portfolio optimization. 
  • Design and lead (when applicable) high profile cross-functional initiatives
  • Coach peer and junior colleagues where applicable

Refine management cadence and oversee the business heartbeat rhythm, allowing for visibility and proactive planning

  • Develop, deploy, and manage a consistent way to monitor and track progress against the strategy and targets, and help hold all accountable for the agreed plans and actions
  • Be the focal point for selected management cadence sessions by supporting the VP, Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff to the CEO in developing concise strategic and executive-level presentations and communications to drive timely and informed decision making

  • Communications Skills: ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively. Ability to manage controversial situations including senior level leaders and external groups.
  • Strategic Thinking: evaluating industry trends, developing long-term implications, and recommending pragmatic strategies for new business opportunities, portfolio optimization, and technology disruption. 
  • Analytical Rigor: ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations. 
  • Strategic Execution: engage with key stakeholders in Regional Strategy & Planning, Marketing, Sales, Product Lines, Finance, and other functions to execute high visibility projects that support the Company's top initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 10-years of work experience with 5-years of experience leading teams in strategy, business development, program/process management and business transformation.
  • Experience developing strategy, delivering programs, and working cross-functionally. 
  • Experience in or consulting for medium to large technology, industrial or similar publicly traded organization
  • Proven ability to identify, focus on, and own high priority issues and tasks - history of meeting deadlines and delivering high quality results
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills - ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment while managing associated stress
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Marketing, or other highly analytical field; Financial acumen. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Experience in Critical Digital Infrastructure, data center, software services solutions and/or networking fields 
  • Proficiency with financial modeling and analysis of improvement programs

POSITIONS ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel:  Infrequent (<20%)
