The Montana VA, is currently recruiting for one GS-12 Sr Social Worker or GS-12 LPMHC to serve as the Community Engagement Partnership Coordinator.

The selected candidate must live and be willing to commute throughout the State of Montana to perform work duties year round.

Candidate may reside near any location of the Montana VA Health Care System but MUST reside in Montana.

Qualifications:

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:
  • US Citizen Non-citizens may only be appointed when it's not possible to recruit qualified citizens according to VA Policy
  • English Language Proficiency Applicants must be proficient in spoken/written English
  • Education Have a master's degree in social work from social work school fully accredited by Council on Social Work Education CSWE Graduates of social work schools in candidacy status don't meet this requirement until School of Social Work is fully accredited. Licensure. Persons hired/reassigned to social worker GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed/certified by states to independently practice social work at master's degree level. For info on current state requirements go to http://vaww.va.gov/ORHM//T38Hybrids

Loss of Licensure/Certification. Once licensed/certified, social workers must maintain full, valid & unrestricted independent license/certification to remain qualified for employment. Loss of licensure/certification will result in removal from GS-0185 social worker series & may result in employment termination.

Grade Determination: The following criteria must be met in addition to the Basic Requirements for employment listed above when determining the candidate's grade.

GS-12 Senior Social Worker

Experience/Education. The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty.

AND

Licensure/Certification. Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure.

AND

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate all the following KSAs in addition to the experience above:

1) Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management.
2) Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
3) Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes.
4) Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills.
5) Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area.

The full performance level of this vacancy is a GS-12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is a GS-12.

Responsibilities:

Senior Social Worker-Community Engagement Partnership-CEP-Coordinator duties include but aren't limited to:

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in public health and suicide prevention, supporting partnerships and coalitions by providing new or existing community education and outreach initiatives on behalf of the Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS)
Implements MTVAHCS Community-Based Interventions for Suicide Prevention including collaborating with community, Veteran, and state partners to develop, conduct, and/or support community-based suicide prevention programs as defined and supported by the VA HCS Suicide Prevention Program.
Develops MTVAHCS-community partnerships - meet with prospective community partners and/or establish formal relationships between the MTVAHCS and local partners to facilitate suicide prevention in the community
Develops and provides suicide prevention related media/marketing, including interviews (print or broadcast), social media postings, and communication campaigns (Paid/PSAs).
Provides a variety of suicide prevention trainings including but not limited to a focus on training in Lethal Means Safety, Mental Health Apps (Hope Box, PTSD, etc.), Military Culture, Other Gatekeeper Training (QPR, ASSIST), Postvention, Safety Planning, S.A.V.E., Suicide Risk Evaluation, Whole Health/Wellness.
Hosts Outreach Awareness Tables on suicide prevention at community events, and actively seeks opportunities to increase outreach to the Veteran population.
Leads meetings with prospective and existing community stakeholder(s) focused on Veteran suicide prevention.
Provides leadership for coalition management -- leads alignment of community coalition goals with VA goals, collaborates with non-VA coalition leaders (remote or in person), attends coalition meetings (general) and coalition subcommittee meetings, manages and attends coalition sponsored events/public meetings, conducts and/or supports coalition evaluation activities (survey distribution, data collection, key informant interviews, etc.); and leads other coalition activities defined in a coalition action plan.
Provides leadership with the suicide prevention team in the development and implementation of suicide prevention educational programs and initiatives.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships between the MTVAHCS suicide prevention team and community-based veteran organizations and leadership.
Develops materials and training programs, in coordination with the SP team members, other staff and external stakeholders regarding suicide prevention.
Develops and delivers of education and outreach services that encompasses underserved veteran populations and expands Suicide Prevention coalition building in communities statewide.
Effectively participates in the MTVAHCS interdisciplinary approach for performance improvement strategies.
Demonstrates I-Care values when interacting w/ all internal/external customers
Maintains current knowledge of & practices in accordance w/ The Joint Commission requirements
Protects printed & electronic files containing sensitive data according to Federal privacy Act & confidentiality statutes
Follows regulations & instructions regarding release of sensitive/protected patient/ employee information
May serve on Service Line committees, workgroups, &/or task forces, etc
Performs other duties as assigned.
