The Finance Manager, R&D Vaccines provides financial support for a limited number of high priority, and several medium priority early and late stage assets primarily in Vaccines, but could span the categories within PRD and ORD. Medium priority assets include those that have medium sized active budgets, might require collaborations with external partners but with less complex arrangements, assets with medium sized durations and medium sized number of indications. Overall budget managed is ~$175-250M.
Role Responsibilities
May provide analytical financial support for Research Unit and/or Clinical Development operating expenses
Routinely interacts with R&D Finance Category Leads, PRD Vaccine / Medicine Team Leaders, Research Unit Operations Leads, as well as supports the clinical teams and Pharm Sci teams in managing medicine life of program budgets and advises on financial impacts operational decisions (hereinafter referred to Client/Partners)
Partners with the R&D Finance Category Leads to provide Client/Partner financials in support of the overall portfolio financial management and investment decisions
Coordinates information from various sources across the PRD / ORD organizations to prepare budgets and forecasts for the vaccines / medicines and operating expenses as well as ensures accuracy of actual spend reporting and accrual balances and conducts ad hoc analysis to assist with decision making
Should have solid financial and analytical skills, a demonstrated ability to work proactively, influence and relate well to others, which will further enable the candidate to advise, support and problem solve with Client/Partners
Prepare business results, financial projections and analyses, identify trends, opportunities and recommendations for action to clients
Coordinates budgeting and forecasting processes with clients and other internal stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of the month end close and reporting, forecasts, and annual operating plan
Collaborates with clients to manage budget within authorized target, support decision making and drive efficiency savings
Provide financial analysis in support of Operating Plan. Lead ad hoc analyses related to medicine and/or portfolio investments
Participates in continuous improvement efforts within the broader R&D Finance organization
Excellent communication skills to be able to succinctly present complex information and drive decision making
Ensures compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance polices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of finance work experience; 3 with advanced degree
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
Experience should include budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for a global organization
Pharma finance experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and successful experience operating in highly matrixed organizations
Knowledge of accounting and prior experience in monthly financial close activities
Knowledge of SAP and fluency in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (MBA or CPA)
Experience providing financial support for clinical studies
Prior Pfizer finance experience
Experience in forecasting and scenario planning of Pharma R&D projects
Experience in BD evaluations / partnerships transactions
