The Training Specialist is responsible for facilitating and coordinating various training initiatives to ensure the development and enhancement of employees' skills and knowledge. The Training Specialist works closely with the director of training and development, facility leadership, facility managers, and facility training personnel to identify training needs, design appropriate training plans, implement training plans, and evaluate their effectiveness.
Vets Pets is a collaborative group of small-animal veterinary hospitals based in Wilson, NC with locations throughout the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina region. We were founded in 2007 with 2 locations and expanded through acquisitions and start-ups to multiple locations across North Carolina. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with facility managers and leadership to identify training needs and develop training plans that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Assist with the design and development of training programs, courses, and materials that address the learning needs of various departments and levels within the organization.
- Create or source training materials, including presentations, manuals, handouts, and multimedia visuals, to support training sessions.
- Conduct training sessions using a variety of instructional techniques and formats to engage participants and maximize learning outcomes.
- Organize logistics for training sessions, including scheduling and equipment/supply setup to ensure a smooth execution.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through performance evaluations, and other metrics, and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes to track progress and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Explore and utilize innovative training technologies and tools, such as learning management systems (LMS), virtual classrooms, and online tutorials, to enhance training delivery and accessibility.
- Frequent local travel to support hospital training needs.
Required Skills/Adilities:
- Proven experience in training coordination, instructional design, or related roles
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and training management software
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Valid NCDL
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and walk intermittently
- Ability to lift patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift to 40 pounds, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Education and Experience:
- Is an RVT or is currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technology Program. Candidate will ideally graduate and become registered within 1 year
- Has a minimum of 4 years experience as a veterinary technician/assistant.
