ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Atlanta, Georgia office is seeking an Environmental/Transportation Planning Intern to join our team for Summer 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of documentation to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and similar environmental review documentation for aviation projects, which includes preparing quantitative, qualitative, and spatial analyses for the planning-related chapters, including land use, zoning and public policy; community facilities; open space; socioeconomic conditions; shadows; urban design; and infrastructure
- Conduct of planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
- Assistance with development of support materials for public involvement programs
- Support of project-related documentation for a range of transit planning studies, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects.
- Performance of field data collection and other on-site project support activities
- Coordinate with project team members
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Fast learner, self-motivated
- Highly organized
- Capable of coordinating and performing multiple tasks concurrently
- Some Knowledge of data analysis tools such as ArcGIS and Excel
- Experience with common software tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software
Qualifications
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, urban planning, public policy, or a related field.
Hiring Salary Range: $19/hr - $28/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
