JOB TITLE: RN, Charge Nurse ED
REPORTS TO: Director of Emergency Services
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked. Are accountable for all the nursing activities in assigned area which includes, but not limited to the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and efficient care. Ensures nursing staff comply with the written policies and procedures established by VVGMC. Periodically review the department's policies, procedure manuals, etc. and make recommendations for revisions. The Charge Nurse is the on the ground leader (front line person) who has the responsibility and capability to assess the day-to-day situations and initiate the actions needed to address issues at hand. This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational in nature. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other employees. Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred. BSN Preferred. One year acute care nursing experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current California RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, and PALS certification. MAB within 90 days of hire. CEN preferred.
