Summary:
At Vighter, we take pride in partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to deliver compassionate healthcare services to our nation’s veterans. We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team and provide exceptional care at various VA facilities throughout the Denver, CO, Aurora, CO and Pueblo, CO metropolitan areas, including:
- Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (Aurora, CO)
- Denver Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC) (Denver, CO)
- Lakewood Valor Point Domiciliary (Lakewood, CO)
- Aurora and Golden Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
- Jewell VA Clinic (Denver, CO)
- Other locations across the Denver metro (Please let us know of your desired location).

Key Responsibilities
- Conducts initial assessment on patients, develop nursing care plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care, document all plans, assessments, and care provided. Provide patient and family education through hospitalization. Initiate discharge planning.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including, but not limited to oxygen, hypothermia units, and various types of suction apparatus, infusion equipment, and patient-controlled analgesia pumps (PCA), epidural pumps, sequential compression devices and vital sign monitors.
- Can provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population, and in the Community.
- Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with performance of assigned duties.
- Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in compliance with Vighter and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.
- Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
- All services shall be provided by established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
- All Health Care Providers will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge of new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- 2 (two) years of current experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- U.S. Passport may be used as an I-9 verification document.
Qualifications
- The provider shall possess the required qualification/elements to be privileged and/or credentialed in accordance with the VetPro, background checks, fingerprinting, badging, annual fit testing, and pre-employment and annual drug testing.
- The contractor’s credentials/qualifications are subject to review by VAMC Staff. These qualifications at a minimum will be based on Joint Commission (JC), or equivalent, quality standards for training, education, and competency.
- Must have and maintain one of the following certifications: Basic Life Support for health care providers through the American Heart Association®, CPR for the professional rescuer through the American Red Cross or the American Safety and Health Institute.
- Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience as a registered nurse in acute or long term care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine.
- Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
These KSA are both requirements but also things that will help you to be successful with Vighter and the facility where you will work:
- Can provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
- Verbal and written proficiency in English. Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish (preferred, not required).
- Ability to navigate an electronic work environment, electronic health records, web-based training, and electronic communications.
- Moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office Suite programs, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.
- A deep sense of purpose and dedication to the United States and our U.S. Military Veterans, their Families, and other patients as assigned.
- Occasional schedule flexibility with a desired end state of 100% staffing and 100% service to the patients that we provide care to.

- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements
- Generally speaking, VAMCs are open 24/7/365. Community Based Outpatient Clinics are typically day shift. Telehealth is 24/7/365. Long Term Care has opportunities across all shifts
- This position requires rotational on-call duties and may necessitate return to the facility to provide care.
- This position has availabilities to work day, evening and night shifts. Availability during weekends and holidays is a possibility. Advanced notice will be provided for scheduling purposes.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
