POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for fabrication welding requirements including manual, semi-automatic, automatic and all-position including using oxygen/acetylene gas torch for cutting or pre-heat.
- Position will require an initial training period at our Clackamas, OR location for approximately 8-12 weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. Successfully performs work individually, as a member of a single craft crew, or a multi-craft work crew.
- Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
- Works from ship specifications, work orders and applicable working drawings and blueprints, i.e., form, shape, fit, and weld on vessels.
- Responsible for being conversant in all quality assurance requirements.
- Performs burning and effectively uses scarfing tip for clean up, bevel parts, etc.
- Performs Arc welding - SMAW, FCAW, GMAW.
- Properly cares for and safely uses hand and power tools.
- Coordinates the performance and completion of job specifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize knowledge of weld electrodes and wire, machine settings, maintain an acceptable standard in quality and quantity, and use oxygen/acetylene gas torch for cutting or pre-heat.
- Read and interpret weld symbols, set up and operate semi-automatic or automatic weld equipment. With supervision.
- Assemble and tack parts using a fixture.
JOB SCOPE:
- Follows direction from supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Ability to provide direction to helper's assigned to the project.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations and possible hazardous conditions.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Hold functional knowledge of all welding equipment and be responsible for its daily maintenance and care, without the aid of supervision.
- Must have full knowledge of weld electrodes and wire, machine settings, maintain an acceptable standard in quality and quantity, and use oxygen/acetylene gas torch for cutting or pre-heat.
- Consistently pass visual, mag particle, ultra-sonic and x ray weld inspection.
- Ability to provide direction to helper's assigned to the job.
- Capable of assembling and tacking parts using a fixture.
- Knowledge of all fabrications machines, CNC and NC are not required but are a plus.
- Must have ability to work at other local locations if needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Min. Two Years' Experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Hold valid certificate, or pass weld test upon employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift, carry 60 lbs., or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
- Must be able to lift 4 ft., 60 lb. spool of wire and load welding machine.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
- Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary.
