The Human Resource Business Leader (HRBL) role is an exciting opportunity to join ViiV Healthcare and play a critical role in our purpose to get ahead of HIV together and end the Epidemic. Reporting to the Head of HR for ViiV, this ViiV HRBL role is a member of the ViiV HR Leadership Team and contributes to the design and implementation of the ViiV Healthcare HR strategy. The role is required to provide strategic HR support and be a thought partner to Senior leaders and their leadership teams on organisational and people issues and in diagnosing and deploying appropriate HR interventions to deliver the ViiV Healthcare HR plan.

The HRBL supports a number of business-critical areas for ViiV Healthcare across North America Commercial, and R&D. The role is also the accountable for Leadership Development & DEI for ViiV Healthcare and will lead on various ViiV wide initiatives and projects.

This role will be based out of ViiV Healthcare's US Headquarters in Durham, NC & is eligible for a relocation package.

Building Capability & Talent

Partnering with Senior Leadership Teams to build robust workforce plans to improve quality, breadth, depth and diversity of talent including:

  • Using business insight to diagnose present and determine future capability gaps, ensuring plans are in place to address these gaps in support of the ViiV Healthcare Strategy and growth ambition
  • Navigation of the internal and external talent resources and benchmarks to ensure robust plans are in place on recruitment and attraction of talent to fill key roles drawing down on external networks and insights where appropriate
  • Ensure succession plans for all key roles reflect global talent targets

Leadership Development

Coach and counsel senior leaders through insight, feedback and challenge, to enable them to be their most effective in driving business performance and organisational alignment, including:

  • Coaching leaders to motivate, focus, care and develop their teams
  • Use business partnerships and insight to diagnose business issues and generate solutions
  • Coaching and developing senior leaders
  • Provide constructive feedback to develop leaders coaching capability of their teams
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgement within the context of the GSK reward strategy, together with reward experts, to balance organization and employee needs to support key attraction, retention and engagement activities.

Culture & Engagement

Understands the business agenda and translate this into the desired culture in an engaging and inclusive way including:

  • Use insights to work with senior leaders to develop appropriate engagement strategies
  • Embed workforce initiatives which support the desired culture
  • Develops leader's capability to understand their role in driving/shifting the culture and engagement across ViiV Healthcare

Inclusion & Diversity

Lead the implementation of ViiV Healthcare Inclusion and Diversity strategy and plan including:

  • Develop leader's capability to attract, recruit, manage and develop diverse talent and to recognise the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to the organisation and team
  • Coach leaders on how to create an inclusive high performing team environment where people feel comfortable to contribute fully
  • Embed fair and equitable practices relating to business activities, and specifically for HR in recruitment, development, pay, reward and promotion

Change Management/Org Design

Lead and drive the efficient delivery of diverse change projects to ensure optimal structures, jobs, work processes and capabilities are in place to enables our strategy including:

  • Deploying systematic thinking to proactively diagnose key areas for change across international and functional boundaries
  • Partnering with senior leaders to develop a range of options on structure to deliver improved business performance
  • Ability to mobilise and align key leaders around change
  • Actively leads the employee relations implications of change initiatives

  • Bachelor's Degree & Global HR experience
  • Experience aligning HR strategies to business needs
  • Experience working with leadership in a matrixed environment
  • Experience connecting the dots across multiple initiatives to shape a coherent plan, drive execution, and lead adoption in a variety of countries and teams.
  • Experience problem-solving in diagnosing situations, asking the right questions and developing solutions that will deliver business results.
  • Experience championing change across international and functional boundaries to deliver large scale, global/regional transformational, cultural and organizational change projects
  • Data analytics experience used to analyze and interpret business and workforce data to develop HR strategy and interventions.
  • Experience developing talent, DEI strategies and driving to deliver through business leaders
  • Experience in delivering interventions across a range of HR activities including leadership development, talent management, executive coaching, building teams, capability builds and performance management
  • Experience with large scale, global/regional transformational, cultural and organizational change projects, improving organizational effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • HR experience in Pharmaceuticals/Bio Tech with demonstrated Strong Business Acumen
  • Experience developing a strategic and solid understanding of the people challenges that a business may face in competing effectively externally
  • Ability to build leaders capability to lead and sustain change
  • Sound judgement and high integrity when making decisions at pace.
  • Past exposure of operating in fast moving, agile, complex and demanding environments and navigating ambiguity
