What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Teacher Washington, DC position at VineyardAppCamp?

We are looking for a committed teacher to teach at our experiential learning summer camp! In this role, you will provide knowledge and instruction to eager students, while inspiring a lifelong interest in tech, design, journalism, cooking, etc.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging students and know how to create a fun atmosphere. Previous classroom experience or camp counselor experience is a big plus. Our camps are well known for being highly engaging and memorable, so please be patient, reliable, and have an arsenal of ice-breakers ready to go.

Some prior experience with coding would be nice, but please apply even if you haven't coded; our trainers can teach you what you'll need to know.

This is a great opportunity for school-year teachers or coaches looking to make extra income during the summer.

Requirements

  • Teach students during the morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon (1-4pm)
  • Commute on-site to the campus and follow school COVID protocols
  • Include in your resume any extracurricular interests and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use the programs we have created to facilitate learning
  • Provide instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
  • Assess and record students’ progress and feedback to parents and the school in a daily email summary
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings

Skills

  • Proven experience as a teacher or tutor
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures (including social distancing procedures related to COVID)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Background-check required

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
We will have social-distancing measures in place that we will review during training.
