VDOT’s Louisa Residency is seeking a flexible, adaptive, dependable and technology savvy candidate for a hourly/wage Fiscal Technician position. This position will work Monday through Friday, 6 hours per day, averaging 29 hours per week. This hourly/wage position can work up to 1,500 maximum hours between May 1 and April 30 each year and is not eligible for state benefits.

Position will provide exceptional customer service, coordinate local procurement activities, and maintain accurate fiscal/ accounting related data by maintaining, calculating, researching, validating and performing data input of various accounting transactions. Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, small purchase charge card (SPCC), travel expenses, inventory, and other related fiscal service transactions. Will interpret and apply basic policies and procedures related to financial transactions and general business operations. Performs miscellaneous administrative support duties for Residency and Area Headquarters staff.
Selected candidates will need to interact comfortably and professionally in a team oriented environment while appropriately managing sensitive information while representing the Residency.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles sufficient to monitor and analyze data.
- Knowledge of office and program support activities.
- Experience performing high volume data entry into computerized financial systems.
- Skill in performing basic math calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member.
- Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable, performing account reconciliations, and tracking time and attendance.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interpreting and applying fiscal policies and procedures.
- Experience working with government procurement processes and fund accounting.
Special Requirements
Fingerprint-based criminal history records check required. References, work history, and DMV records will be verified. Telework options determined by manager according to business need.
This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with the job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response, and emergency operations. Performance of these duties may require work outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends and holidays. VDOT will determine when essential employees are required to report.
