Altius, a licensed Illinois adult-use cannabis dispensary is looking for a qualified applicant to serve as the Dispensary Assistant General Manager in Round Lake Beach, Illinois.

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for overall day-to-day dispensary operations. The AGM will guide their retail team including inventory, security, sales, and reception agents to maintain operations compliance with the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act and Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Rules while serving qualified adult purchasers with the highest-level of customer service.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a background in retail sales and experience managing small or large teams. Please include information regarding retail sales experience, inventory management, working a cash register, cash handling, personnel management, human resource experience, bookkeeping experience, and computer skills including POS/inventory tracking software. Applicants should have a general familiarity with computers which should include word processing, email, and printing/scanning of files and documents.

Cannabis specific experience is applicable. Medical background or experience is applicable. Management experience is preferred.

Applicants should be friendly and courteous. This position will require a high level of customer service, organizational skills, multitasking and often will involve dealing with persons suffering from pain or other symptoms, looking to find relief. Patience, professionalism, confidentiality, and understanding when dealing with everyone is of the greatest importance.

All applicants are required to undergo a FBI background check and fingerprinting through the state of Illinois, as required by state law. No individual is allowed to work in a licensed cannabis facility prior to undergoing a background check, being fingerprinted, and receiving their cannabis dispensary agent card from the State of Illinois.

Additional knowledge of cannabis varieties, products, treatment options regarding various ailments, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and the state program (Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act 410 ILCS 705, IDPH Title 77 IL Adm. Code 946, IDFPR Title 68 IL Adm. Code 1290) is encouraged. All employees are required to undergo an orientation and training period.

Compensation
Salary range and benefits package to be negotiated based upon expertise, between $60,000 and $70,000 annual salary.

Applicant should have availability starting immediately for hiring and startup activities related to the business launch.

Job Responsibilities

Staff Oversight

  • Create and manage scheduling and hiring/firing for employees to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
  • Provide leadership and guidance for departmental managers, AICs, and Agents
  • Ensure adequate working conditions for staff with adherence to IL Labor Laws and OSHA workplace safety
  • Ensure daily opening and closing duty tasks are assigned, completed, and coordinate employee mandated breaks to ensure adequate staffing
  • Approve and deny PTO and vacation requests as necessary to ensure adequate staffing levels

Business Oversight

  • Create and maintain regular weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on sales and revenues for Principal Officers
  • Update public and back-end facing menus with new products, pricing, and analytics
  • Manage and maintain any pre-order and online order systems for adult purchasers, complying with record retention requirements under the CRTA
  • Coordinate with business professionals including HR and Accounting to maintain accurate business records for compliance and successful operation
  • Ensure cash accountability through daily operations, random auditing, and oversee proper cash handling procedures for all staff members
  • Coordinate with banking partners for cash deposits and necessary information to maintain the dispensary’s banking relationship
  • Oversee staff in marketing tasks including social media, radio, interview, or other forms of marketing for the organization

Compliance Oversight

  • Serve as the organizational compliance contact for IDFPR and the Illinois State Police (ISP)
  • Oversee IDFPR and ISP inspections and train AIC employees to perform necessary inspection tasks to ensure compliance at all times
  • Ensure updated documentation is on file with IDFPR at all times including operational practices in the Operations and Management Practices Plan as well as any other documentation or SOPs required under the CRTA or by IDFPR
  • Ensure the dispensary maintains staff compliance with Agent and Agent in Charge badge renewals and annual training tasks
  • Coordinate with the Security Director or Security Provider to ensure monthly security audits are completed and security system is in working order daily prior to business operations
  • Create and manage security permissions including remote camera viewing, access control system, and alarm system
  • File necessary reports with regulatory agencies including but not limited to camera outage report, notice of termination of employment, inventory discrepancy, or other requested or necessary documentation as determined by the dispensary, IDFPR, or ISP
  • Maintain updated purchaser information packets including updates to any digital or online versions

Inventory Management

  • Oversee the Inventory Manager and assist as needed with inventory tracking including daily audits and a list of product expirations
  • Manage wholesale purchasing including serving as the point of contact and overseeing product selection and pricing for cannabis and non-cannabis inventory
  • Oversee and track product failures including obtaining proper compensation from manufacturers for faulty products
  • Ensure product deliveries are regular to maintain inventory levels and said deliveries are completed in a compliant and efficient manner
  • Oversee recall and destruction events as needed according to Standard Operating Procedures

6 – Have you been arrested, charged, or convicted of any felony, violent crime, or excluded offense (see below)?

"Excluded offense" means:
A violent crime defined in Section 3 of the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act or a substantially similar offense that was classified as a felony in the jurisdiction where the person was convicted; or a violation of a state or federal controlled substance law that was classified as a felony in the jurisdiction where the person was convicted, except that the Department may waive this restriction if the person demonstrates to the Department's satisfaction that his or her conviction was for the possession, cultivation, transfer, or delivery of a reasonable amount of cannabis intended for medical use.

This exception does not apply if the conviction was under state law and involved a violation of an existing medical cannabis law. (Section 10 of the Act)
